This is an Austrian Helmet
This Austrian helmet was once a transitional but I had it restored to WWI specs. by The helmet Doc. at, http://www.fixyouroldgermanhelmetforyou.50megs.com/ |

Austrian helmets differ from German helmets....
In that the chin strap posts are set higher on the Austrian helms.
|
Restoration philosophy....
Only helmets ruined by a bad paint job should be messed with or restored. This was was painted over with gray spray paint when I got it. |

I went with light aging on this Austrian shell.
I wanted it to look about 100 years old 100 years from now not three hundred with heavy aging. |
Liner and Chin Strap came from http://www.cornhusker.net/%7Epflc/militaria1.htm
I had to sew on the chin strap by hand, just like Austrian troops had to. |

Interesting camo pattern....
Was copied from a German helmet I saw on Ebay. |
At right is a complete refurbished helmet as issued.
This M1916 helmet was done by Ken at Germanhelmetsinc.com. |

Color is a gray green.
One of my favorite helms. |
Inside of Professionally Refurbished helmet.
When you put this on you smell leather just like a Soldat did when it was issued him. |

A classic westfront 1918 regulation paint job.
Helmet size 68 with low quality chin strap. |
This helmet is outfitted with a M17 liner.
Got the Liner same place I got the Austrian Liner. |

Paint Job is what I call a backyard paint job.
Painter was not a professional but knew his craft. |
Hope you have enjoyed this photos page....
Sorry I don't seem to have room to show the inside of this helmet. |
